What is YOUTH United? Youth United (YU) is a Habitat for Humanity program that brings together community youth ages 5-25 to fully sponsor and build a home with a local family. The youth are the leaders, planners, fundraisers, public relations specialists and builders. They work together to raise money and awareness, while youth ages 16-25 build the house (younger youth can work on site during the non-construction phases). Most importantly, through this program youth help fulfill a family’s dream of having their own home. It is the adventure of a lifetime! A YU house will cost approximately $70,000 to complete. We built our first YU house in 2006; it was the first in Minnesota! We start our 2nd house in June of 2007 and finish it later in 2007. |
