What is Youth United?
Youth United (YU) is a Habitat for Humanity program that brings together community youth ages 5 -25 to raise money to partially sponsor a home and to help build it with and for a local family each year. The youth are the leaders, planners, fundraisers, public relations specialists, and the builders. They work together to raise money and awareness, while youth ages 16-25 build the house (younger youth can work on site during the non-construction phases). Most importantly, through this program youth help fulfill a family’s dream of having their own home. It is the adventure of a lifetime! The first YU house was built in 2006; it was the first Youth United house built in Minnesota! In all, three YU houses have been built and dedicated, and our 4th house will start this spring, 2010.
