What is the Tour de Habitat?
 

  • A stationary bike fundraiser to build the 60th house for Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity.
  • Two levels of participation: team and individual.
  • The maximum number of riders on a team is six.  You can have 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 riders on a team. 
    • The ride will be organized by 15 minute intervals.  If you have fewer than 6 team members, your team will have to split up the hour and a half ride.  Some members may ride loner than a 15 minute interval.
    • The Team Session Goal is to raise $1200 as a team  ($200 minimum per team member)
  • Individuals challenge themselves to bike for up to 3 hours.  Cyclists are not required to ride all 3 hours.  They can stop whenever they wish.
    • The Individual Session Goal is to raise $300 per cyclist
  • Cycling instructors will lead both sessions to motivate and encourage the cyclists.


 

T-shirts will be given to all participants. Prizes will be awarded
for the most money raised, and much more!

How do I register for this event?

               Follow the Team  Session Checklist                          OR                     Follow the Individual Session Checklist

1. Form a team of six cyclists.
1. Sign up as an individual.
2. Designate a team captain to serve as a contact with Tour de Habitat officials.  Each team captain will receive an informational packet.
2. You will receive an information packet.
3. Register online at www.firstgiving.com/RAHH - Choose the Tour de Habitat – Team Session. Or,

ail in a registration form to the RAHH office. There is a link to a printable registration form below.
3. Register online at www.firstgiving.com/RAHH - Choose the Tour de Habitat – Individual Session.  Or, mail in a registration form to the RAHH office. There is a link to a printable registration form below.
4. Begin to raise money to contribute toward your team goal -- which is $1200 for the team ($200 minimum per cyclist).

4. Begin to raise money to contribute toward your individual goal -- which is $300 per cyclist.

How do I set up a Firstgiving.com account
and start fundraising money?

First, register for the event and join a team

  1. Visit your nonprofit page: http://www.firstgiving.com/RAHH
  2. Click Get started
  3. Select Tour de Habitat – Individual Session or Tour de Habitat – Team Session
  4. To register for the event, click Yes, register online now
  5. Select the registration type, the number of people you’re registering, and read and agree to the waiver, then click Continue
  6. If you’ve used Firstgiving before, log in to your account. If not, enter your email and click Continue
  7. Fill out your account details and click Continue
  8. Next, enter your registration details and click Continue
  9. Join or add your team
  10. If you’re registering another person, enter their registration details and add them to a team
  11. Confirm your registration submission

Next create your fundraising page:

  1. Click Create your page at the bottom of the registration confirmation screen
  2. Choose your web address and click Create your page

You’ve successfully created your page. To tell your story, add photos and set a fundraising target, click Personalize and share your page. Once you’ve edited it, click save and continue.

Now, click Email your friends to share your fundraising page with your community. If you have a lot of people to email, click the blue button to the right of the To box (see example below).

Why We Raise Money



Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity depends upon cash donations to cover building costs. Inflation and increases in building materials mean that events like Tour de Habitat are critical to raise funds for building houses.

Our 2010 goal for Tour de Habitat is $27,000.

Every sponsor, every rider and every donation helps to build a stronger community of homeowners.
Habitat does not give away “free” houses. Partner families pay a mortgage, put in sweat equity hours and attend homeowner classes. Habitat provides a hand up to hard working families to make their dreams of owning a home come true.

Your donation builds homes and helps families to break the cycle of poverty.
